68 HERE Local 2 - Hotel Workers Fight for Their Union
Mike Casey, president of UNITE HERE Local 2 says the union and workers will continue their boycott of the hotels until they get a fair contract, despite the end of the lockout. The head of the hotel association is obviously unhappy, having been forced to end the lockout without forcing the union to agree to a contract without an expiration date of 2006. The union sought the date so that the expiration of its contract would take place simultaneously with those in other cities, allowing workers to support each other during negotiations from city to city.
