Immigrant workers workers and their supporters demonstrate in front of
San Francisco City Hall and the Federal Building, the day before a hearing
on an order barring implementation of the new regulation issued by the
Bush administration, requiring Social Security to cooperate in firing
millions of undocumented immigrants. A temporary restraining order was
won by unions and immigrant rights groups earllier in September, and the
hearing on October 1 will either withdraw that order or make it permanent.
