29 Mixtec Families in Taft
A community of a few hundred migrant indigenous Mixtec farm workers from Oaxaca live in Taft, which was an oil boom town years ago at the southern end of the San Joaquin Valley. Almost all the migrants come from the town of San Pablo Tijaltepec. PIctured: Teresa Santiago Gonzalez, and her daughter Lourdes Cruz Santiago, who is dressed in the embroidered blouse that is the unique style of their hometown.
