04 ILWU Local 10
Workers at the intermodal terminal in Point Richmond, California, who load huge cargo containers from trucks onto trains, lost their jobs when they organized and joined the San Francisco longshore union, ILWU Local 10. Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad brought in a new contractor to do the work, and the new company refused to rehire most of the workers or recognize their union.
