19 HERE Local 2 - Hotel Workers Fight for Their Union
One demand in the contract negotiations that led to the Hilton strike was that the big hotel operators take concrete measures to begin recruiting African American workers, who fought to get rid of the color line in the 1960s, but who made up only a small percentage of hotel employees forty years later.
