32 Point Reyes
A newborn sperm whale beached itself at Point Reyes National Seashore not long after birth. The teeth are undeveloped, and its eyes have not yet opened completely. Increasing numbers of whales beach themselves for reasons which are not clear, but may be related to pollution from chemicals or noise from military sonar experiments.
