44 New Orleans, Louisiana
A sleeping bag used by someone living in an abandoned house on Avon Park Blvd. in St. Barnard Parish, one of the areas of New Orleans flooded by Hurricane Katrina. Some families have begun rebuilding their homes, despite the almost total lack of government help. Others have not been able to, and their homes are still as they were right after the storm, almost two years before.
