03 Processing latex
the island of Basilan, off the coast of Mindanao
A worker feeds latex being processed into raw rubber into a machine, on a plantation owned by the British Sime-Darby Company. Sime-Darby is leaving because the island of Basilan was the site of large-scale fighting for two decades between the Muslim people of the island and the central Philippine government.
