92 Iraqi Unionists
Muhsin Mull Ali, a retired longshoreman and grandfather of the labor movement in Basra, was imprisoned by the Iraqi monarchy that outlawed unions before 1958. He went underground during the repressive years of the Saddam Hussein regime. When the regime fell, he helped reorganize the present longshore union, which is affiliated with the Iraqi Federation of Trade Unions.
