Immigrants

Salinas Valley -
Triquis and Mixtecos

05 Greenfield

Victoria de Jesus Ramirez weaves a huipil, a finely woven blouse, on the traditional Triqui belt loom at her home in Greenfield. The Ramirez family are immigrants from Rio Venado, Oaxaca. Victoria and her husband Miguel work as farm workers during nine months, and Victoria weaves during the months of no work, in order to make up for no income.
