Alejandro Mendez and his mother-in-law Marcelina Gomez prepare chiles for a mole to celebrate the birth of his baby girl, Ariana. Mendez comes from Patambu, Guerrero, and his wife's family are Mixtecos from Oaxaca. They are farm workers, and work picking raisins around Fresno. Mendez and his wife and baby live in the trailer with the Lopez family. .
