26 The Albany Bulb
Artwork at The Bulb. The Bulb is a peninsula that sticks out into San Francisco Bay from the Albany shoreline, originally created from landfill behind a horse racetrack. Here artists have created a collection of sculpture, painting and mixed media works in a natural environment over many years, exposed to the elements, without personal attribution. It was an anarchistic, free environment for many years, and at one time homeless people lived amid the artwork. The area is now part of the Regional Shoreline Park.
