Day of the Dead

On the Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos), Oaxacans build altars to the dead, and dress as skeletons in costumes. Isak Vasquez, a famous Oaxacan weaver and artist, makes an altar to the dead in a room of his house. A large percentage of the residents of Oaxaca have left to work in the United States, where the same celebrations take place in Mexican barrios.
