Cananea Copper Mine 15 Cananea In the Cananea copper mine, the largest in Mexico, many unsafe conditions endanger the health and safety of miners. The union at the mine, owned by Grupo Mexico, is on strike to demand that the conditions be improved. In the huge concentrator complex, rock containing copper ore is crushed into fine powder.
