10 Berkeley, California
Foundry workers from the Pacific Steel plant demonstrate outside a meeting of the Berkeley City Council, protesting against a measure that could lead to the factory's closure. The foundry workers are mostly Mexican immigrants, along with African Americans and Asian immigrants. Pictured: Calvin King, president of Local 164 of the Glass Molders and Plastic Workers Union, which represents the workers at the foundry.
