27 Oaxaca
On the Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos), Oaxacans build altars to the dead, and dress as skeletons in costumes. A group of students makes an offering of breadloaves and flowers in the city cemetery. A large percentage of the residents of Oaxaca have left to work in the United States, where the same celebrations take place in Mexican barrios.
