28 Mixtec Families in Taft
A community of a few hundred migrant indigenous Mixtec farm workers from Oaxaca live in Taft, which was an oil boom town years ago at the southern end of the San Joaquin Valley. Almost all the migrants come from the town of San Pablo Tijaltepec. PIctured: Jose Domingo Cruz Morales holds a dove he's taken out of its cage in a yellow milk crate.
