19 Mixtec Families in Taft
A community of a few hundred migrant indigenous Mixtec farm workers from Oaxaca live in Taft, which was an oil boom town years ago at the southern end of the San Joaquin Valley. Almost all the migrants come from the town of San Pablo Tijaltepec. PIctured: Soledad Lopez, carrying her baby Mariflor Silva on her back, heats up tortillas to eat with chile for dinner, after coming home from work.
