07 Mixtec Families in Taft
A community of a few hundred migrant indigenous Mixtec farm workers from
Oaxaca live in Taft, which was an oil boom town years ago at the southern
end of the San Joaquin Valley. Almost all the migrants come from the town
of San Pablo Tijaltepec. PIctured: Juana Gonzalez Silva nd Antonia Cruz
Silva make panels for shirts and blouses, using the unique embroidery
style of their hometown, sitting on the curb of the street outside the
apartment house where they live.
